Chevening Farewell Event – July 30, 2008

On 30 July 2008, the British Embassy in Mexico hosted its annual “Chevening Farewell” event for departing Chevening scholars. The event was hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel, with a breakfast and a pre-departure briefing.

Her Majesty's Ambassador, Giles Paxman, and the Director of the British Council in Mexico, Chris Rawlings, both talked about the opportunities that the departing scholars will find in the UK and noted that Mexican students always integrate well into student life in the UK.

During the pre-departure briefing staff from the British Council and the British Embassy offered tips about how to prepare their year in UK, provided advice on obtaining visas, and what to expect in terms of arrival in the UK. All the scholars seemed eager to start this new stage into their careers, and the adventure of studying in the UK. We'll see them back in Mexico in autumn 2009 to hear how they got on!
